The Operations Manager is responsible for:

Management & Leadership

  • Leads others by providing direction, support, and training to ensure all team members are performing the work correctly.
  • Manages and continually develops, maintains and supports internal standards and practices. This includes contributing ideas, sharing lessons learned and updating standards regularly and in periodic review meetings.
  • Makes recommendations for training and development of direct reports.
  • Weekly meetings with CEO to present progress updates.
  • Weekly meetings with direct reports to receive briefings on all projects, issue needs. 

Staffing & Recruiting 

  • Makes recommendations for additional resources based on FTE and Resource Utilization requirements.
  • Recruits and interviews additional resources when required.
  • Works with HR to prepare job descriptions, initiate job postings as required to staff key roles, and ensure compliance.
  • Provides equipment requests for new hires.
  • Maintains relationships with prospective candidates, interested in employment or contractors, to ensure we can scale to meet clients’ schedules.

Client Interfacing

  • Supports the scope of work, contracting and duties of contracted resources.
  • Liaises with clients on project related matters.
  • Manages and resolves issues and concerns of clients in a clear, concise and professional manner to ensure client satisfaction on all projects.
  • Manages relationships with key client accounts to ensure we are meeting client expectations.
  • Works with clients to improve our support model in a technical capacity.

Resource & Project Coordination

  • Holds and facilitates weekly project meetings with direct reports to receive briefings, and capture progress updates on all projects and issues.
  • Manages all communication to clients and stakeholders to ensure projects and services are carried out professionally.
  • Utilizes Project Tracking Sheets and Project Management tools to monitor, manage and track project status and progress. 

Project & Work Management

  • Reports on Change Order client approvals
  • Monitors requests for additions and deletions from scope and assesses cost impacts (e.g. RFI’s, AE/Client request, and other disciplines).
  • Prepares fee schedules for new and existing projects which includes estimating hours for both services and travel.
  • Prepares proposals/scope of work documents, working with the Business Development and Business Manager.

Quality Assurance & Quality Control

  • Develops and executes a quality assurance program for all lead’s deliverables (e.g. RFI responses, Change orders, etc.)
  • Supports the team to ensure projects meet the client’s standards.
  • Provides project oversight to maintain quality of care as it relates to design best practices, BIM standards and engineering principles.

Consulting, Management & Marketing

  • Acts as a Senior Security Consultant for assessments and surveys.
  • Trains current and new staff on the fundamentals of consulting.
  • Prepares reports and diagrams to communicate the findings of site visits and assessments.
  • Recommends appropriate countermeasures for a client’s physical security operation. This may include operational, physical, and electronic countermeasures at their facility or international sites.
  • Manages all communication to clients and stakeholders to ensure projects and services are carried out professionally.
  • Travels to client site locations and consults, attends meetings, and gathers data about sites for the development of security remediation plans and designs.
  • Oversees the development of conceptual designs including physical and electronic countermeasures.
  • Supports consultants, engineers and project managers with identifying and communicating technical requirements in the design documents. This may include various plan views, sections, representations, renderings, modeling, and diagrams.
  • Prepares lists and matrices of technical and operational requirements gathered from site visits and incorporates into design documents.
  • Works with various design and construction documents to make informed and accurate engineering decisions.
  • Responds to project related activities, such as changes or variations in the design, answering requests for information, and generally supporting the design and construction process from start to finish.
  • Assists in the development of standards and protocols for security operations.
  • Works with complex documentation, drawings and specifications to complete projects.
  • Works with the Business Development Manager to identify new clients and convey our service offerings.
  • Markets and sells TRUSYS capabilities to new and existing clients.
  • Presents TRUSYS to new clients in meetings, webinars and presentations.
  • Develops new contacts and maintains existing contacts to support future business.


Required Education & Experience

  • Must have 10+ years’ experience working in a security consulting, design or project delivery position with security, technical, architectural, or engineering experience.
  • Must have 5+ years’ experience managing business operations.
  • Must understand the principles of security design management.
  • Must have a strong knowledge of security consulting and both physical and technology assessments.
  • Working knowledge of security system design and the fundamentals of security operations, fire and safety, and voice and data networks.
  • Must have a bachelor’s Degree in sciences or a related technical capacity. An engineering degree is a plus.
  • Industry PSP certification is required; other certifications, including PMP and CPP, are preferred but not mandatory.
  • Must be proficient with online project management tools, as well as Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio, and Outlook.


Required Knowledge & Skills

  • Able to support and work well with teams of people.
  • Deep working knowledge of low voltage engineering and engineering principles.
  • Maintains professional level of design and engineering skills.
  • Understands electronic theory, principles and industry practices.
  • Studies industry literature and attends seminars to keep current in products, processes and materials.
  • Able to implement of a Q.A./Q.C program to continuously improve customer satisfaction.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit and Bluebeam are preferred, but not required.
  • Able to work from home remotely with limited supervision of duties.
  • Able to work in an international context with peers operating in different time zones, coming from diverse cultures, and varying standards and norms.
  • Able to work varied hours to accommodate international clients, including nights and weekends.
  • Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Able to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Able to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Able to research complex issues for resolution.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills and ability to present and demonstrate work effectively to others and clients.
  • Able to consistently present a professional image, both inside and outside the organization, and when speaking to customers.
  • Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Able to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Able to apply mathematics to operational requirements to ensure profit, staffing resource costing.
